Re: sims 4 game crashes when loading household
I'm running into the same issue (DXDiag text file below)
I've done the whole delete cache thing in BOTH The Sims 4 AND Origin & uninstalling/repairing/uninstalling BOTH Origin & The Sims 4 as well - NOTHING
I also tried resetting my user files as outlined in this thread roo - NOTHING !!
One (Potentially??) HUGE difference - Although I use mods & CC, I don't think that the problem as the game at least SOMEWHAT worked, I DID however recently installed ReShade (With EVERYTHING located in the same folder as TS4_x64.exe. See the screenshot below) if that matters much
EVEN WITH the latest reshader files (I updated it JUST TODAY), the game crashes back to the Desktop with Origin popping up - NO ERROR GIVEN
I also had A NUMBER of game saves (ALL backed up of course - TWICE (Just to be EXTRA safe 🙂 )
I'm AT MY WITS END trrying to solve this problem. HELP !!
@BachPatu I've split your post into its own thread because the previous thread was a bit old and apparently didn't fix the issue for you.
Please run a couple of basic checks on your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, move the Sims 4 user folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and see whether you can load a new save in the clean user folder that spawns.
If the game still crashes, please remove all Reshade components and repair the game: open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair. Then try to play. It's worth finding out whether Reshade or some component of it is the problem before spending time chasing down any other issues.
