There are 3 jobs where you can follow your Sim to work.
That is scientist, doctor and detective.
Are trying you following your Sim with one of these jobs?

That's correct. The criminal was one of the base game jobs. The expansion comes with 3 jobs and those you can come along with.
You could say why not the other jobs, mainly because the other jobs are all from the base game, and not everyone has the GTW expansion, or don't feel te need to join their Sim at their work.

When your Sim has that job you should be asked to go with them when they go to work.

Do you not get the message to follow them or what happens in detail ? Do they go to work on their own ?
What expansions have those jobs?🙃

does it never show up or did it just not show up when you first loaded the game ? In my experience, depending on when they need to go to work, it's possible that they just go the first day but you'll get the pop-up the second day.
Vampire or not shouldn't make an difference. Also which career are you in ? hi do you know if you can follow your sim to university pack?
- you can also follow them in acting
