Re: Sims 4 on a new hard disk
@Letizia1612 Technically, you need to uninstall Sims 4 and reinstall it on the second drive. So you'd uninstall through the EA App, and when reinstalling, choose a folder on the second drive as the install location. You do need to create a folder on that drive, for example D:\Games; you can't just install the game directly onto D.
If your download speeds are slow, you can try moving the game's program files to the location you want to use on D, then telling the EA App to download the game there. Don't move the folder within Documents; I mean the location that you see if you click Sims 4 in your game library and then choose Manage > View properties:
The EA App might simply verify that the files are in the new location and finish the install process. Or it might redownload some of your packs, or the entire game. It seems to be hit or miss.
Your saves and other user data are stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. I'd suggest making a copy of this folder and storing it elsewhere, ideally on an external drive or USB stick but your secondary drive works as well. (If you use the secondary drive, create a separate folder, e.g. D:\Backups, for that data.) The files shouldn't get removed during the uninstall process, but it can happen. More importantly, it's useful to have backups in general in case something happens to your main saves and you need to retrieve older ones. You can back up the files periodically and delete the oldest backups when you know you won't use them.
