Re: Sims Queue Bar Freezing - Game Becomes Non-responsive

@candiecoatediv  This issue could certainly be related to old mods or custom content that aren't working properly anymore, or maybe even lingering effects of mods you've removed.  It might be helpful to try running this save in an otherwise clean Sims 4 folder, to see whether it makes a difference.  You can copy and paste the save rather than dragging and dropping it so that the original remains intact, with no missing cc.

Please also let me know the size of your save file and when you last played it without having any issues.

To try to avoid the issues with Sims 4 not closing, please play in windowed fullscreen from now on, and open the Task Manager before you play.  When there's an issue, you can alt-tab to the TM (or any other app for that matter), which will (should) prevent the game from superceding your clicking on anything else.  That way, you should at least be able to force quit the game when it becomes necessary.

When you do alt-tab to the TM, please let me know how much memory, CPU, and GPU the game is using.  You can take a screenshot or just list out the values.

@puzzlezaddictThank you for the suggestions. As I mentioned this is a fresh clean save and I do not play with mods or cc, do you think when I have played with them they could still somehow be lingering? Even in a fresh new save? It may look like I don’t because I had to use the windows key to get to my desktop to try and close my game or even access the task bar because it would not pull up when in game. Also as a side note, the screenshot and the video also show my fps when this happened. Not sure if that means anything or worth mentioning.

I will put this save in another fresh clean save to see if the issue occurs again. I have also changed from full screen to windowed full screen in the options panel. And thank you for the alt + tab I was not aware of this. I will definitely be doing this from now on.

Question - I placed my save in the saves files but it is not showing up in my game. I changed the save name to 99.save because the save I just created fresh was named 2.save so I thought (based on the instructions so add save files from tumblr) this would allow me to see both the new save and my save that I want to play. But I’m not seeing it.

@candiecoatediv  I didn't realize from your description that this was a new save; I thought it might be one from a separate user folder or something.  At any rate, if the folder that the save is in hasn't had any mods or custom content in it, then no, the issue isn't mods or cc.

The save files need to be in form Slot_x.save , where x is an 8-digit hexadecimal number.  So x could be 00000002 (seven zeros) or 00000099 (six zeros).  But if you changed the 2 to 99 without deleting one of the zeros, you'd have a nine digit number, which the game wouldn't read.

@puzzlezaddictOkay that makes sense. Yes I did add the 99 without deleting the zeros. I will try that. Thank you! Hopefully this fixes the issue. While I was waiting a response I put the save in the fresh file by itself and I did notice that when the kids were sleeping and the monster wakes them up (I always cancel the action to react and just have the kids nap until they have the option the sleep again) but one of the kids the action to react kept trying to pop up in the queue but it kept canceling itself out.

@candiecoatediv  I think the monster under the bed issue is probably distinct, likely a reflection of the fact that the interaction doesn't always work as it should.  If it continues to be an issue, there are ways to troubleshoot it, for example moving the bed or buying a new one, but I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens alongside other more serious issues.

Have you found a solution to the issue ? I'm having the exact same problem and you're the only other person I've seen mention it...

  • @z5u2zb0s4jt0 This is just an issue with version 1.99.x from what I can see. Many other threads point to this issue, and it impacts myself as well. You can "testingcheats true" and shift-click the frozen sim and "Reset Object (Debug)" interaction to clear the queue and try again. That's what I've been doing recently.

@z5u2zb0s4jt0 @I haven’t had this particular issue in quite a while and I’m at not positive what could have changed. I don’t know if it was a bug that was fixed with an update or not. But now if I hear a sim “stuck” in queue (it will sound like a constant action trying to pop up but nothing happens) I just reset the sim. But not being able to click anything hasn’t happened in a long time. I don’t even play with this save anymore so I’m not sure if the save itself was the issue. If it happens I’ll try and pay more attention to see if I’m doing something and not realizing it bc I’m used to it now.
