Re: The Sims 4 video card error

Yes, I'd had tried this, too, hoping that that had been the problem but it still gives me the error.  I even tried again upon reading with the same results.

Could you try moving your options.ini and your config.log (I think that's what it's called) files to the desktop (they are in documents\electronicarts\thesims4\) and then start the game to have them recreated

You may have to install the Clevo video drivers. Reference video drivers (updated video drivers from Nvidia) may not detect and/or operate laptop hardware properly. Nvidia uses Optimus software to switch the graphics. Optimus is usually installed as part of the device driver. You should be able to open the video control panel and set what applications (games) will switch the graphics chips. A lesser possibility may be the gaming video chip is damaged.

Moving the files out didn't work, I'm afraid.  Even tried rebooting and trying again.  All of my other Origin games, and stand-alones, work fine; even Sim City is working beautifully.

Yes, took some time because that side of tech I couldn't wrap my head around quickly, but managed it and... same thing. ☹️

Which drive do you have the same installed on ? What about the user files ?

Everything's installed on D, (origin, games, etc).  Saves, et al, are on C.

The odd thing is that it had been working perfectly from launch and all of this happened of a sudden, lately.

Your c drive is getting pretty full. Maybe try moving some stuff or put the doc folder on d.

Still no luck. I have no idea why just this one thing is giving so much trouble; so much so that even restores from months ago can't get it working, but everything else works better than fine.  I can't even get CC to work now but Skyrim or Dragon Age work perfectly... not even a stutter.

Thank you, all, for your help.

I need two things from you:

    1. Could you upload (or pastebin) the content of your config.log file and send me the link
    2. Screenshot your error message, upload to image sharing site and post a link to it on here.

Maybe also try to revert to earlier drivers.

My config.log, opened with notepad, is actually completely blank.  I've never looked in there before so I'm guessing that, itself, is off.  This, though, is the error I keep getting (if Flickr decides to work because Imagr won't):

I'm guessing that the config.lpg being empty is your actual problem.

Do you still have the documents folder on your c drive or did you move it to d ?

Still on C for the moment.  I have 20-odd game saves to migrate in order to do that, not all of them Origin/EA.  LOL 😕mileylol:

I am suddenly having the same error too.  I've been playing this game since I bought it this past summer.  In fact the last time I played was about a month ago, no problems.

So far as I am aware, there have been no updates to the game.  I've tried checking for updates (none), repairing the game and updating my drivers.  All to no avail.

First, and foremost, thanks for the help you'd been giving.  RL snagged me away for a time but I think I've figured it out, at least for now.  It started happening on my desktop, as well as the laptop we'd been talking about previously.

Apparently the trouble was with ORIGIN, and their updates.  I followed these instructions:  http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2015/03/game-starts-in-small-window-and-doesnt-react/ and, wouldn't you know, everything is working again.  I hope it stays this way and I hope it helps others with the same issue.  Yay! I don't have to cancel my pre-order for Get to Work!
