Here's instructions how to create them
- Press Windows-Key + R
- Type: DxDiag
- Click on Save all Information.
- Attach the Text File to your postYour chip is def not found but I wanted to check if you also have a graphics card or just that chip
Your chip is in the GraphicsCards.sgr file but with a slightly different Device ID so let's add yours. I'm not a Windows user so I've c/p instructions on how to get to the file here from the front page and just added your info for steps 5 - 7:
How to add your Card to the database
You will need to add your card to GraphicsCards.sgr which can be found here: \programs(x86)\Origin\SIMS 4\The Sims 4\Game\Bin (Path may vary depending on where you have your game installed). Make sure to backup the original file before making changes to it.
- Make sure the game is closed
- Locate the following file in your installation folder: (usually C:\programs(x86)\Origin_Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin): GraphicsCards.sgr
- Create a copy of the file as backup
- Open the file with any text editor
- Search for 0x5916
- Your search should find the following line:
card 0x5916 "Intel (R) HD 620" $cardLevelMedium $resolutionMedium
- Create a new line below that one and copy and paste that line. In the new line replace 0x5916 with 0x5917
- Save the file
- Start the game
- You should no longer receive the error.
- To check if the card is now properly recognized, check the file config.log in documents\electronic arts\the sims 4 and open that with a text editor. It should now say: Found: 1 Supported 1 next to your card.
There`s one thing I don`t get. This: 2. Locate the following file in your installation folder: (usually C:\programs(x86)\Origin_Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin): GraphicsCards.sgr? I can`t seem to find that file. I understood evrything you want me to do, but I an seeem to find that sadly :/ Think its not there
- crinrict6 years agoHero+@RunaAster The folder can vary depending on where you installed the game.
Did you change the default path for Origin games ? I never done anthing with that, but maybe something happend when I tried to get back my saves. I dont think so, I`m not the best with computers
- @RunaAster
I can't help with this Windows issue but have you tried repairing to see if the file is recreated in that location? Otherwise Crin and Puzzlez are much better at helping 🙂 - crinrict6 years agoHero+@RunaAster Could you check as described here on the path: https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/06/origin-how-to-change-the-installation-path.html
then see if there's a SIms 4 folder in there.
If you can't find it, search your hard drive for the file. thank you, found it. I will let you know if the game is working after I tried the steps some of you reommended earlier

I done all that. Thank your for the help. Do you know what else I can do? It still says "your video card is not recognised". Question: Step 7 I copied the line and put the same line with 17 under. Should I also before I save remove the line that says 16 over? Maybe that was my mistake.Still says: Name (database): [Found: 0, Supported: 1]Still not working, still says videocard is misssing.
If you look at the last page (13 I think) I was told "how to add card to the database"
I can`t copy all the steps in here for some reason. Step 7 says I should copy line 16 and then add line 17 tips. Should I also remove line 16 in the process and then save? If that makes sense
Still says: Name (database): [Found: 0, Supported: 1]
Do you have any other tips? Sorry to be asking so much but it is my favorite game in the world, and with the money I spent on it I do think I deserve to get to use a game that works.
@RunaAster Okay, let's try this another way. Open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair. This will undo any changes you've made.
Next, open graphicscards.sgr, wherever it is, and crtl-F to search for 5916. You'll see these lines:
card 0x1902 "Intel (R) HD 510" $cardLevelMedium $resolutionMedium
card 0x5916 "Intel (R) HD 620" $cardLevelMedium $resolutionMedium
card 0x5926 "Intel (R) HD 640" $cardLevelMedium $resolutionMediumChanged the bolded 5916 to 5917. Save the change, quit, launch Sims 4, quit, and check config.log again. If it still says found: 0, please check the last modified date on the config file. (You can see it next to the file name and type in a File Explorer window, if you're looking at the files and folders in list form.) The last modified date should match the last time you opened the game. If it doesn't, let me know.
If you do still get errors, please run another dxdiag and attach it to a post. Your previous one listed an error related to the graphics card driver. It might have been a single random event, but if it's a recurring error, that needs to be addressed as well.
