Just chiming in here... same issue. The game updated... had to fight it a bit but I got it to do so. Loaded fine... I found it odd that my sim still showed... everything they were wearing (NOTHING on her is base game) but got the prompt that mods were turned off and the version number was updated. So turned CC back on and restarted... everything was fine the second time, version number, saves, everything. Cool..
Was working on a build, did not see anything new (though all the stair railings I had put in last night were gone for some reason so I just thought it was because of the update) but kept working for a bit. I needed to check something so I had to quit out of the game (because of no true borderless window mode but that is a whole other discussion) and when I did... EA app told me to update again... odd but I did so.
Tried to get back in and got the whole userdata error thing. Deleted the game version txt doc and was able to get back in... but cannot play due to saves being made on a new version... and no way to update the game again. Did all the things, cache, restart, repair... blah blah. I am not removing CC because CC has nothing to do with this...
