save files in game overwriting?

Is anyone else having issues with your save files in game since the update? I started a new save file yesterday to test things out with the autosave feature.

I decided to open a different save file (one I don't care about, was just a randomness file) to change the save settings to save reminders only. I saved and went back to the main menu. NOW it shows in that save file the sim from the file I made yesterday for testing, and what I had originally in it is now gone.

Screenshots below are of the save files in game as they show right now. The top one that says Planet Sims is supposed to have the female sim in the second screenshot as an active household on slip 42 in Strangerville but she and her home I made are gone now.

If you need any other information please let me know and I will do my best to get it for you and if I should edit tags.

Edit to add: I was able to recover the other save and have switched back and forth between that and the new one. Exiting out of the game, changing save settings, etc. Seems to be ok now. Might have been just a random mini glitch? idk. Just wanted to update! Will still be holding off jumping into any of my favorite saves for a bit though.

  • JAY-CAMAROGIRL-  Did time revert in this save, as in, is it exactly in the state it was at some point before you added the new sim?  Or has the save retained some progress (the correct sim-day, other changes still present) while the sim and her house are gone?

No, the previous save I entered into acted like the newest save I made for testing instead, and the other household/build was gone completely.

  • JAY-CAMAROGIRL-  There was just an announcement in the Sims Discord that might explain your issue.  Could you have done this?

Additionally,  we're investigating a issue where manual saves can inadvertently override each other during a very specific flow. If you open a save file, make changes, and exit to the main menu without saving, and then load an autosave - choosing "Save and exit" from that autosave will override your latest save instead of the original one.

If so, let me know.  I don't see a bug report about it (other than a new vague one), but I'll ask around.  And in the interim, make sure to save your progress, or better yet, quit and reload when switching saves.
