Screenshots/Vids not saving

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.67.45.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All EP. All GP except Batuu, Spa Day, and Dine Out. SP: Moschino, Fitness Stuff, Backyard Stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Take a screenshot or record a video in-game
What happens when the bug occurs? I take a screenshot or video. I get the standard popup. I look in my \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Screenshots folder and nothing is there.
What do you expect to see? My screenshots showing in the proper folder
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Started immediately after the HH patch (1.67.45).

Pretty frustrating as I'd played through three sim days and taken about ten photos before saving, exiting, and realizing the screenshots were nowhere to be found!

  • It's not much a save problem, as I've been able to save the game this whole time. It's a media creation problem. I tried most of everything to clearing Origin's cache to resetting Sims 4 to default, but most people, especially with really aggressive anti-virus programs need to take a step further in. I have Avast antivirus on my machine and for the most part, all I had to do was add both "TS4.exe" and "TS4_x64.exe" as exclusions to its Ransomware Shield, put the "Origin Games" and "Electronic Arts" file paths into exclusions, and then seeing what that does afterward.

So I just looked and a new Screenshots folder was created, but there is nothing in there at all, it's completely empty. This is an improvement on last night though as when I tried this no new folder was created then. I have a mods folder but it's completely empty as I took them all out. There's also a lot of random text documents at the bottom because I don't know what I can remove and what needs to stay!

@ginovasims OK. Looks like the folders are correctly created but then they are somehow locked.

What are you using Avast or AVG ?

Maybe the folder itself needs to be added but as I'm not using either, I'm not sure how it works.

Is there some kind of Log in AVG where you can check what's getting blocked ?

I had been using AVG but I'm uninstalling that and installing Avast instead. I've had issues with AVG in the past so I'd rather get rid of it and see if that's part of the issue. I'll try everything you suggested with Avast and see if that works!

AVG must have been the issue because now I have Avast it all works. Thank you so much for your help!!
