SDX error, white sim portraits, corrupted save, etc.

Yep, same here.  Played a little bit Thursday AND Friday evening with no issues, after installing the For Rent pack on Thursday.  I tried to log on today, and saw a bald sim in my character slot on the choose game screen, and a "required pack" message.  I then noticed that all of my Sims 4 game packs are showing as unowned in the game, but show up as owned in my EA library.  I've restarted my computer a few times, and tried repairing the app as suggested (clear cache, repair app), but now I keep getting the same download error that others are seeing on the repair screen.  I'm not so desperate to play that I am going to jump through a ton of technical hoops on my end to find a temporary workaround, but figured I'd add my issue to the growing list!

i was actually able to repair the game again! as of now the dlc's that i own are shown as "owned" in the EA library as well as sims ingame. However; the menu where youre supposed to see the cas/build mode stuff in the chosen dlc (ingame) is similiar to the gallery invisible and above it theres a red cross. i have no idea what is going on with EA right now, but i hope they fix it as fast as possible! apparently, EA is supposed to be down as well right now too.

I've been having these issues the past few months after every update and its becoming extremely frustrating now. After every update when I open my Sims it gives me the notification "Sims delivery error 00000008:00000000000000c8". Sometimes all I have to do is just take my mods out of the folder, clear cache, restart my computer, repair the game and all is well I'm good to go.

And then, there are times like these when the problem has persisted for a few days. When I have to completely uninstall my the Sims and clean boot my PC and the problem still happens and all of a sudden it starts randomly working again.

However, this time I'm at a complete loss. I can get through to the main menu, the sims delivery error noitification comes up and after a few seconds it completely crashes. I spent all day yesterday uninstalling and reinstalling a good few times (and I've a lot of packs so it takes a while). I've ran it as an adminstrator, nothing changes. I've clear cache and repaired it, nothing changes. I've tried running it while being offline, nothing changes.

Also, I feel like its important to mention that I've no access to the controlled folder acces, because this is my old college laptop and that setting is managed by them.

So if anyone else has been experiencing the same problem and has a solution I would be extremely grateful!

@josieehh  The EA App was down for a bit yesterday but should be fine now.  The red crosses are another symptom of an issue with security software.  Please disable Controlled Folder Access, if it's enabled:

and let me know whether it helps.  If it doesn't, please double-check your installed apps (Windows Settings > Apps) to make sure you don't have a third-party antivirus, for example your computer may have come with one pre-installed.

@graciegal434  This problem does very much look like a permissions issue, so I don't know what to tell you if you can't change this laptop's security settings.  I've merged your post with the master thread to keep all the reports of this together.

Summarize your bug Started with problems loading saved games, seemed all my saved files were corrupted...could open them, but not actually play the game, could not place lots or anything (errors on all lots saying only residential can be placed on residential...even if you were using residential), all games started from the seasons page, no matter where they were actually saved. I could start a new game, create a Sim, place them, decorate, etc., but once saved and exited, starting the game back up, the same weird stuff would happen. I checked the EA Help site and on here and tried several things, restarted my computer many times, deleted everything (I own ALL the add-ons) and reinstalled them, repaired everything....then I wasn't even able to start the game. I got an error pop up: "Unable to Start: The Sims4 is already running [ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51]" At this point I got on Tech Support Chat with EA (Jupho), they had me uninstall the EA app and reinstall....this did nothing, then they made a bug report and suggested I do one and another report on the EA app that I did...so, here we are.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? open the sims4 on my computer?

I am not really tech savvy...this is really the only game I play and I hate when something goes wrong...especially when I have spent so much to buy EVERYTHING! I really need this to relax...I have had a really crappy couple of weeks, so any help will give you so many blessings! Really...I will surround you with the whitest light I can think of! LOL and Send you so much happy energy and love blessings! You have no idea! Please help!

12/21/23 Update:

After the last update installed (12/19/23) I was finally able to get the game to start...yay, right? NOPE! I am still getting the error pop up: "Sims delivery error, An unknown error has occurred. Code: 00000008.000000000000000c8.  Have been getting that for almost 8 months though and was able to play before. Now, upon the game finally loading up and me trying to go to anything...it went back to like a fresh virgin game, no saves or anything (fine, I'm cool with starting fresh...plus I uploaded most of my peeps anyway)...BUT, it FREEZES, then just cuts off. I've tried restarting offline, repairing, uninstalling, restarting my computer....everything I can think of....also I have already done the access thing, so that is set up like someone told me to try (sorry, can't remember exactly who, bad memory for names, sorry)....feel like I have tried literally everything....please help. I am at my wits end. This is the only game i play, I need it to relax and have some down time, it helps my anxiety a ton...plus lets me use my creativity that I have no other way of getting out. Thanks! V

my game also wont start i was mod searching  and organizing  and i cleaned up my mods folder so i can prep for the new pack i bought the pack expecting to play it and my game wont start 

Cannot open a new game or saved game. When I come onto the game, it says that there was an error with sims delivery, the resume game has a grey silhouette and when i click resume, it just takes me to a new season screen and if i click new game it shows a white screen for a few seconds before crashing my game. I have all mods removed and disabled and have tried repairing the game.
