Sims 4 - 'There is a problem with your games setup. Please reinstall your game'
Everytime I try to launch the Sims 4, this comes up. I've researched and tried everything I could find (even unintall and re-install it like it said too), but nothing has worked. I don't know what to do. Please help, I'm going through severe with Sims withdrawl
EDIT: i attached the DxDiag.txt file in case it's needed.
@LASimsdesign A dxdiag is always appreciated, even if it turns out not to have any helpful information. Yours lists a few generic Windows errors, so please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
Since you've already reinstalled once, and it didn't help, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both Sims 4 and Origin or the EA App. If you have a third-party antivirus running, please disable it during this entire process, up through the point where you try to play Sims 4 after reinstalling it.
- Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
- Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
- Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
- Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
- Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
- Close Revo, and restart your computer.
Next, uninstall whichever game launcher you use, also with Revo. I don't have specific instructions, but it's fairly straightforward. Just make sure you do NOT delete the folder where you've installed other EA games, if you have one; this would be named Origin Games or EA Games by default.
If you do want to keep using Origin, you can find a download link here:
When you reinstall Sims 4, please create a new folder on the root level of C. For example, C:\Games is fine, but don't use C:\Program Files\Games.
