Stuck on loading screen…

For 2 days now I am continually stuck on the loading screen into sims. I have tried to repair, multiple times and this doesn’t help.

It was working fine, started freezing in game so I saved and restarted… Haven’t been able to play since.

Any help??

I have no Mods or CC.

  • sophie9109  Does this freeze happen on the initial loading screen, before the Mai Menu?  Or does it happen after the Main Menu, when you've selected a save?  If the latter, please try loading a different save, and then a new one, for comparison's sake.

If that doesn't help, or the game freezes before the Main Menu,

please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • Thank you, I have launched from clean folder as suggested, each step is still incredibly slow and a pop up comes up saying “unsupported video card” when I get into the main screen.

  • sophie9109  Please repost your dxdiag here, for reference.  I can see it in one of your other threads, but it would be easier if it were attached to this one where we're troubleshooting.

In the meantime, try playing with Norton disabled.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe, and you can reenable it when you've finished testing.  I mention this because your dxdiag lists one Norton error, and this may be contributing to the issue.

Please also increase the size of your computer's page file.  Here's how (option one):

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/77692-manage-virtual-memory-pagefile-windows-10-a.html

Set the minimum to 12288 and the maximum to 16384, and restart.

Finally, please try to install the newest driver Intel provides for your processor and graphics chip:

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/91830/intel-pentium-processor-n3710-2m-cache-up-to-2-56-ghz/downloads.html

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

If you get an unsupported hardware error when installing the driver, try this workaround:

  • sophie9109  If the game is running as it should now, then yes, you can move the original folder back after deleting the new one (or renaming it, if you want to save some new content you've created).  If the game is not running well yet, leave the old folder in place for now so we can keep troubleshooting without any possible interference from your old content.
