10 years agoI have the same issue although I know how to solve it. I have windows 8.1 while playing Sims 4.I had to same issue with Sims 3 with windows 7. All you need to do is once it turns black when pressing on an item
-Press the "start" key on the keyboard. For windows 8 it will be the windows logo.
Once you do that your screen might freak out a bit but all you need to do is continue back to your home screen and click on the window of Sims 4.
It will take you back to the game and should give you the ability to buy and move items. It will let you continue up until you exit the game
When you start up the game again on another gaming session you will need to do it once more. It's simple and easy. Let me know if anyone needs help with these steps

If anyone is still having this problem, try deleting/removing the Cache files. I did this myself and haven't had the black screen problem since! I hope this helps.
