Do you have any Mods or CC? If so move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.
I found some broken mods/cc but now when i get to CAS and try to create my sims the game crashes i really think the new patch from October 2020 did something i might wait until the November 2020 patch comes out and see if it fixes the issue but ima try deleting the localthumbcache thing and will let you know what happens
