Sims 4 Cannot Recognize My Video Card (NVDIA MX150). Game Keeps on Crashing.
Hi,
I'm Juan from the Philippines.
Game: Sims 4
Problem: "Unrecognized Video Card: Your video card was not found in our database. Your graphics settings have been set as high as possible, but you may wish to reduce them if you are experiencing poor performance."
I originally intended to play Sims 3 in my laptop but sadly it cannot recognize my video card - so I went to my second option: Install Sims 4 instead.
I conducted a research if Sims 4 recognizes NVDIA MX150 graphics card prior to purchase: according to the internet: yes, it can (Acer E-15 with MX150 graphics card was even recommended. I even saw gameplays in youtube with them using MX150 graphic cards.
Installation:
When I installed Sims 4 in my laptop, the installation went smoothly. I encountered zero problems at all. Though, the required Sims 4 game update lasted for 6 hours (that was a long wait).
Starting the Game:
So after installing, the game appeared in both Origin (EA) and Geforce Experience (Nvidia)- this means Sims 4 is recognized by the laptop.
I launched the game through Geforce Experience (just to be sure the game will recognize my video card).
Sims 4 Starts:
When I opened the game through GeForce Experience: So there's the EA logo, Sims 4 logo (it lasted for about 3 minutes on my screen), there's music, **Glitch started** (black screen, then shows my desktop, then go back to sims) then flashes the Sims 4 homescreen (a few more glitches as I recall), then back to the homescreen, then a WARNING APPEARED: "Unrecognized Video Card: Your video card was not found in our database. Your graphics settings have been set as high as possible, but you may wish to reduce them if you are experiencing poor performance."
I
- Problems encountered: Glitches (why it keep on showing my desktop?), Unrecognized Video Card.
Graphics Card Driver:
I checked back if my driver is updated - it's not. So I updated it.
Now it is GeForce Game Ready Driver version 399.07. My driver is now updated.
Starting Sims 4 again:
Same as the previous attempt. Same glitches. No more warning (but I believe Sims 4 still cannot recognize my graphics card). And it CRASHED, Blue Screen of Death appeared. (after trying to do "Create a Sim"). The Blue Screen of Death states: "Stop Code: VIDEO TDR FAILURE"
Futher Discussion:
I tried to open the game the day after, but still, Sims 4 got the same problem.
Checking the Config File (My Document/Sims4):
Name (driver): NVIDIA GeForce MX150 Name (database): [Found: 0, Supported: 1]
SHORT STORY:
I have an Acer Aspire E-15 with 2GB Nvidia MX150 Graphics Card. Sims 4 cannot recognized my video card.
What shall I do? I very sad and disappointed. I bought Sims for $35. I'm very hopeful it will be fixed.

@juancarlonavarro Your computer is borderline of meeting the minimum requirements. for sims 4. You may get it to work, but you will need to run everything at it lowest settings possible. and even then it may be hard to play. After reviewing you Graphics your under spec for the sims 4.
You only have 4GB RAM and the Graphics uses half of that which means that you are running into Out of RAM errors. Since you appear to be running Windows 7 error reporting was not included so I can't see if there was other issues. I would advice to get more RAM. Reducing graphics settings in the Sims 4 may also help.
You are right I should get more RAM. Actually I'm really planning to. Soon maybe.
Btw, my game finally worked. I made some setting adjustment in Nvdia Control Panel, set Sims 4 to "High Performance Processor", then boom, the glitches are gone.
I set my game to windowed mode so I could check the RAM and if Nvdia icon (on the lower right corner of the computer beside the clock) becomes active when I open the Sims 4.
Result:
Nvdia icon was active - meaning my graphics card finally recognizes Sims 4.
RAM - well, it went to approx 3.5 - 3.9 GB when game was used. Borderline. (I have 4GB RAM)
Adjust Game Properties at Origin:
What I did next was I set Sims 4 from 64 bit to 32 bit through Origin settings. Then I also set the graphics settings quality of the game from "very high" to "high" at Sims 4 homepage.
Then, wow, it improved my game performance. No more crashing and gliches.
Checking back my RAM
I check back my RAM. It is playing around 3.1 GB in my system.
Checking back my Config:
I check back my Config file. It is still:
Found: 0, Supported: 1. (Is it so bad I still have this result?)
Isn't it should be?
Found: 1, Supported: 1
What are your thoughts.
What are your thoughts regarding my Sims 4 not recognizing my video card?
It's actually not that bad, if you're able to launch the game and play it. Then all should be fine.
The reason why Sims 4 doesn't recognize your video card is because the NVIDIA GeForce MX150 isn't in the game database. This happens with a lot of newer video cards.
EA/Maxis would need to update the list for it to be officially recognized.
