Sims 4 Cats and Dogs eating glitch

Hi, since downloading The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs expansion pack by game is just a massive glitch. None of my sims will eat, they prepare the food but then when they pick it up to eat it, it drops on the floor and the action disappears. They won't pick up their pets, or in fact do any actions with them. I can't even walk my dog anymore that does the same thing, my sim like bounces up and down and then the action disappears. Im not sure what to do, I've tried resetting game to factory settings, removing the mods and cc etc. But I haven't added any new cc since downloading the expansion pack and it was working before and then as soon as I play the expansion pack nothing is working. Its getting to the point where I can't even play the game because my sims can't complete any actions and if I don't play another family they are just dying cos they can't eat...
