Sims 4 crashes after 5 min on my external SSD

Hi!

I don't have a lot of SSD space on my computer so I bought an external SSD card (samsung T7 touch 500gb) and I installed my sims games on it. I heard that many others do this so I was happy that there was still a way for me to play the sims 4.... but everytime it crashes after 5 minutes. The game pauses for a few seconds and closes itself.... I tried so much. I even tried to change things on my external SSD. I even downloaded origin on my external SSD but nothing worked.... I haven't been able to play sims for almost a year and I want it to work so bad. The new expansion pack looks way too good to pass...

Does someone know anything that might help me?

    @skullgirl111  The driver for your graphics chip is crashing, and if that's happening while you play Sims 4 it would explain the issue.  Please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

    If sfc reports that it found corrupt files and was unable to repair some of them, please stop here and let me know.  Otherwise, restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the button to check for updates.  If anything installs, restart your computer when you're done.

    Next, download the newest stable (not beta) graphics driver from Intel:

    Run it as an admin: right-click on the driver and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after it's installed, then try to play.

    -Does your computer fit the minimum system requirements for the Sims 4?

    -Have you checked to make sure there's no issue with the external SSD? 

    -Also, do you have any mods or custom content downloaded? If it's too heavy for the computer it'll close itself. 
    -Last question - were you doing anything specific whenever it closes? Like feeding a sim, creating a sim, making a house, etc

    - Yes my laptop always worked perfectly with the sims (I had to make space on my laptop because of college)

    - My external SSD is also perfectly fine because I have Autocad Lt on the external SSD and that doesn't close itself off

    - I deleted every mod so that couldn't be the problem.

    - It happens when i'm in build mode and in creating mode... and playmode... it just closes off around 5 minutes in the game....

    Urgh... maybe this SSD isn't meant to be used as a game storage place :,)

    I'm having a issue kinda like that. Can you open task manager while having the game open and tell me how much memory it is using to determine if we are having the same problem?

    Maybe you could move your college stuff onto the SSD and see if that fixes it? (of course, don't prioritize Sims over school, but y'know.. sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do..)

    Then you can definitely tell if it's just your SSD not liking the game. (i'm so sorry, i typed this hours ago but forgot to hit submit)

    @puzzlezaddict Heyy, my laptop says error 740

    This is what I did:
    Windows PowerShell

    Try the new cross-platform PowerShell https://aka.ms/pscore6

    PS C:\Users\egcas> DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    Error: 740

    Elevated permissions are required to run DISM.
    Use an elevated command prompt to complete these tasks.
