I really appreciate you helping everyone despite not working for EA! I have been struggling with my game since the September update and I am losing hope. My game crashes most times during the loading screen but has opened and allowed me to play a handful of times in the past month and a half. I have filtered through my mods and deleted corrupted mods and I have done the 50/50 method with mods and it seems that this is not the problem since the game has been playable a few times.
@Olivia84677 Does the game ever crash with no mods or custom content present? I understand that sometimes it runs fine with your mods, but it's possible that whatever is causing the crashes is situational. You don't need to save your progress when testing if you don't like the effects of removing the mods and cc.
The Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag are somewhat generic in that they don't point to a particular cause. So it's going to take some experimenting to figure this out, and I would absolutely start with mods and cc.
If that doesn't help, try forcing the game to run in DirectX 11 mode. Open your EA App game library, select Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add -dx11 to the command line box.

Dear @puzzlezaddict
I've seen that you are answering a lot of people with crashes problem, I was a bit depressed about loosing a save I've been playing since 5 years, as my game crash as soon as I go in game. I thought that my computer wasn't good enough, but I was having no problem until the last update, and I see that a lot of people have more crashes, so I tought I'll give a go to this DxDiag thing. I don't know a lot about computer, I could'nt even really understand if my computer is really good enough, but with the DxDiag report I've attached here would you understand what the problem is ?Sorry for my english, I'm a poor french simmer who cannont afford a better computer, just want to know if I have to say goodbye to the Sims or if there is still a chance !Thank you a lot for everything you do in this place ! - 10 months ago
It loads very slowly either way but has not crashed without mods in a while. I put the game in the DirectX 11 mode and my gshade does not appear to be on any longer and I haven't had any more crashing issues today. Could my gshade be the problem if it was outdated? How would you recommend about finding the bad mods if it inconsistently crashes? Thank you for the help.

@magicosims Your laptop should still be fine for Sims 4. Ultra graphics settings might be too much for it, but medium-high settings should be fine. You can also reduce the in-game resolution a bit to help with performance if necessary.
For the crashing, please force the game to run in DirectX 11 mode. Open your EA App game library, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add -dx11 to the command line box.

@Olivia84677 Yes, GShade could be the issue here, so I would suggest removing it and repairing the game (again). You can try adding it again later, but please let me know how Sims 4 runs without it present.
When crashes are inconsistent, the best thing you can do is keep track of when those crashes happen. How long you've been playing, what lot your sims are on, what outfits they're wearing, which other sims are present, even the sim-time of day—all of this could be relevant. If you notice a pattern, you'll know where to look, for example one of your sims (or an inactive sim for that matter) might be wearing a piece of bad cc that is only a problem when it's actually used.

@puzzlezaddict it did work, I can't believe it, two letters and two numbers were the only thing missing for the game to work. I went from not being able to press play without the game craching to a game working as before. Thank you a thousand time, you are a blessing for this comunity !

@puzzlezaddict Hi! This thread is a few months old but I'm having a similar problem where I try opening my game, it gets to the load screen, and it flashes white and goes back to EA. I've been scrolling through the thread and I did the dxdiag to see if it was also my graphics, though I'm not sure how to read it so I attached it below. Please, anything helps!

@Wynn1e A dxdiag is almost always useful. In your case, please try this workaround for other Surface models (post 17):
