Sims 4 crashing upon launch after 06/06/2024 e-patch

My game is crashing upon launch ever since the last e-patch/update from 06/06/2024. I can't figure out what is the issue. Removed all my mods and it still crashes, I'm on PC. Wrote a topic myself but no one seems to respond. Hopefully we're not alone and EA fixes this nonsense asap.

Hey, I'm having the same issue but I'm using direct 11. I got as far as the main menu, by taking out all my mods and settings ini files, but still no luck actually playing 😞

@inusea and @SMJ1018  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@SMJ1018  Please test with the DirectX 9 version for now.

@SqueemishAmoeba  This is commonly related to an oudated mod, so please test with no mods or custom content at all.

If that doesn't help, try opening the game in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

Switching back to dx9 fixed everything, thank you so much 🙂

Hi can you help, my game keeps crashing after i updated it yesterday. I play on a PC and my mods used to work just fine before the update. I moved all my mods to my desktop and deleted them from my game just to test out if they're causing an issue, and turns out they aren't. I uninstalled and reinstalled the sims 4 twice, but it still crashes within 2 mins or something like that. Please let me know if you want further info I just wanna fix it.

I did as you said and it still didn't work. So, i did a clean uninstall to the game once again and even the EA app this time. The game continued to crash freeze to a point i couldn't reach my task manager to end the task for the sims 4, i had to restart my pc. This is the dxdiag.

@Pusheenator99  Please uninstall all your Razer software: Chroma, Synapse, whatever you can find.  Restart and test Sims 4.  If this helps, you can reinstall the apps one at a time, while testing, to see which one is causing the issue.  They might actually all be fine after reinstalling, but it's best to be thorough.

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.
