Sims 4 crashing/freezing even after removing CC/Mods.

So i have been playing sims 4 for a while now. I had downloaded some CC/Mods to my game and started to experience some issues with crashing and the game not responding. I was thinking that maybe it was the CC causing the problems, but now my game is still crashing even after removing all of the CC i had downloaded. The game starts up and goes to the gameplay where i left off but as soon as i try to do anything it just freezes and then crashes. I have tried repairing the game, but it does not do anything. What do i need to do in order to resolve this problem? I have never had this problem with the previous sim game. I was always able to play with CC, so i am curious as why it is an issue now?

  • @jazzhandz165 Moved over to the Sims 4 board for you. There are some helpful people over here, so hopefully you'll be able to get help with your problem 🙂

  • Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

i got to the point where i was supposed to put my saved game back. It works just fine in a new game, but now i can't find my saved one(the one I was originally having problems with). Not sure why, maybe I did something wrong in the process?

Did you put all the files from the saves folder back and it's not appearing on the load menu ?

Okay, I see what i was doing wrong. I did not put the save game back after I started a new game. I see what is crashing my game. It is the options.ini. It is working fine without it. Do I need it for anything, because it is not a folder it looks like a picture and in the top left corner it says exec.

If you remove it, the game will create a new one.

So if the one you had was causing crashes, you can delete that and just use the new one.

The file has all your options settings stored. Such as your graphics and audio.

my game wont even start after i installed cc. it came up with the origin not installed error. and it stayed the same even after i had removed all the cc from the mods folder. i even tried deleting the mods folder altogether but my game still wont start.
