Sims 4 EA and Steam Help

I just got a new laptop and I am trying to connect my sims 4 game. When I first logged in, it says I was missing my for rent pack. When I went to manage packs, it says I can only manage it through steam. I tried to download it on steam and now suddenly there's a secondary sims 4 on my home screen and I now have for rent but every single other added content is missing no matter which icon I click on my home screen. I need help please I dont know how to get everything back in order and I dont want to mess something up I cant go back on.
