Sims 4 game freezing/crashing Intel Core Processor
I’ve had Sims 4 on Origin for over 2 years now and it has always done this, though the amount varies wildly. Some days, I can play uninterrupted for hours, and other days (like today) I go in to do some minor detail work on a build and it immediately freeze/crashes. My computer will occasionally freeze/crash with other programs open, but not terribly often.
When I say "freeze/crash," I mean that the monitor completely freezes (neither mouse nor any buttons work), but the computer audibly shuts down except for the power light that stays on until I manually turn everything off. It has always done this.
I have an Intel Core Processor running Windows 10.
32.0 GB RAM
In the last year, especially, I have learned pretty much everything I could about computer tech and health to try and resolve the problem (which obviously has not worked), including...
- defragging
- using the System File Checker tool to repair any missing or corrupted files
- deleting the localthumbcache on occasion and after any major changes
- updating mods
- use the mod conflict detector (and getting rid of any faulty mods)
- deleted all but one save file
- disk cleanup
- turned down all game graphics
- keeping computer updated
- keeping game updated
- running daily virus checks
- turning off all unnecessary background/startup programs
- unplugging any unnecessary USB's
- keeping general computer storage low
- checked that I had enough RAM
- keeping less than 6GB cc
- cleaning & dusting both the in and outside of computer
- and finally, buying a floor fan to point at the computer in case it was overheating
I run through this list pretty regularly and sometimes it seems to help, but the problem persists. I'm honestly out of ideas and would love any suggestions you may have. Sorry for the lengthy question.
@immunetree2 Sorry for the late reply; I didn't get a chance to go over the log until tonight. There is one clear issue: the temperature of your graphics card is much too high. You can see it here:
Strangely, the GPU fan isn't running at full load until the temperature gets over 90°, which is hotter than I'd expect the cutoff to be. There are apps you can use to force the fan to run faster at a lower temp, but the first thing to try is to clean the card's fan. Given its age, it may be coated in dust; please also make sure it spins properly and that there's nothing blocking airflow inside the case.
The temps of your other components are fine, although the sensors on one of your hard drives cut out about halfway through the log. That's not a warning sign itself, and the temperature was low enough at that point that there's no reason to worry; I'm just pointing out that the sensor may not be working.
