sims 4 game is unresponsive on the main menu

Hi, i'm really new to this site so i'm sorry if i'm getting a lot of stuff wrong, but i have this problem where whenever i open my Sims 4 game and it has loaded to the main screen, it wont activate anything if i click on it, no loading or anything. this has been happening since yesterday and i don't know why, its also caused my game to sort of freeze when exiting build mode making me unable to exit without using task manager (i still have to use task manager to exit the application) Any idea on how to fix it??

    @govnernment  Please move  your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no  content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know whether you have the same issue.

    If you do, please  run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
