sims 4 gaming lagging
hey so my game is lagging really bad the loading menu takes forever and when the sims are walking or anything its lags real bad idk i its my mods or cc but I played the smooth before with cc and mod...
YES IT STILL LAGS
@zelneciaaaa Please post a new dxdiag so I can see if there are any newer errors than previously.
@zelneciaaaa Your dxdiag has a couple new errors likely related to the graphics driver, so those weren't simply a product of the lack of free space. Lenovo offers a newer driver for your laptop here:
It's the Intel driver listed for Windows 11 and dated September 7. Even though you have Windows 10, you should still be able to use this driver: Microsoft lists it as being compatible with Windows 10 builds going back to spring 2020, and yours is newer than that. However, it's possible the installer will throw an error, in which case just stop there.
The Windows 10 driver provided by Lenovo is the one you already have installed, so you'd need to clean-uninstall it first before reinstalling. Here are instructions:
So, to be extra careful, do this: download both the Windows 11 (September 7) and Windows 10 (January 14) drivers, and DDU from the link above. Try to install the Windows 11 driver. If you get an error, or if you see any issues after the install, use DDU to clean uninstall the current driver and reinstall the older Windows 10 driver instead. Restart your computer after installing any driver and before trying to play.
okay i did it
its still lagging when they move it looks like they are teleporting idk if i install the graphic card right
@zelneciaaaa If you post a new dxdiag, I'll check the graphics driver for you. And you did need to download install the driver manually, not just check for updates on the website.
How do I download it manually?
@zelneciaaaa You go to the Lenovo site I linked, click the down arrow next to the name of one of the graphics drivers, and then click the little Download icon a bit below that arrow.
The file will download as an .exe, meaning you just have to double-click on it to launch the installer, and the installer will take care of the rest.
@zelneciaaaa You still have the old graphics driver installed, not the newer one I suggested to try. If you can't install the newer one, please do a clean uninstall of the older one, as described in the guide I linked, and reinstall the older version from the Lenovo site.
did i do it right this time i followed all the directions
@zelneciaaaa You do still have the old graphics driver installed. Did you clean uninstall and reinstall it? If not, please try that now, and let me know whether the game still lags.
im trying but its not working
@zelneciaaaa Please describe the step you're stuck on and what happens when you try to do it. If you get an error message, post a screenshot.
it says its install when i do it
@zelneciaaaa Is that the Windows 11 driver (the newer one) or the Windows 10 driver? If it's the Windows 10 driver, you need to follow the guide I linked earlier in the thread to clean uninstall the driver and then reinstall it. Here's the guide again:
It is windows 10 I didn't see the 11 I just tired again I'm doing everything right
@zelneciaaaa Alright, if you've clean uninstalled and reinstalled the Windows 10 driver, and the game still lags, please run a couple of basic checks on your Windows system files:
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the button to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
If your save still lags, please test (again) a new save in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and a new folder will be created the next time you open the game. (Your save and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily not read by the game.) Don't move anything to the new folder yet; just see whether a new save lags.
If you still have issues, please try a new save again, except this time while your computer is offline. You can sign into Origin and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.
