Sims 4 Has Become Unplayable. Completely Glitched.

When I go to play any save file, new or old, my screen glitches like crazy and the gpu and cpu spikes to an insane level. Ghost images of the Build menu are flickering across the screen along with some other weird images. Less than five minutes of having it open, on even the Sims 4 home screen before you load into a save file, causes my computer fans to kick in and the whole thing to grow too hot. It's gotten worse over the week, too. I'll jump on to see every few days and try updating and it gets WORSE. This doesn't happen with other games. I cleared caches, repaired EA and the game packs and followed all the instructions to lower graphics and do anything to take some weight off my computer. My computer is older, but  it works just fine in all other areas but for the Sims. I don't use mods or do anything crazy. It's completely unplayable and has been for a week. I submitted something to EA and they haven't gotten back to me. I don't know what to do. I have one picture showing the weird sun and build icons, but the flickers all over the screen were hard to catch. All kinds of tearing and glitches occur across the whole screen nonstop. It's PC not MAC, although I don't know what difference that will make here. Thank you for any help you can give.
