Sims 4 houses don't show up

I have been playing the Sims 4 for a few months, and I've had an issue since the new base game update came out a few days ago. I can see the houses when I view a world from the map, but when I click on a lot (in view or live mode), it shows up completely blank. The sims that live there show up, but the terrain and house are completely gone.

This happens in my current game, but when I started a new game, it seemed to be working normally. Is there anything I can do to save my game? How can I fix this? Thanks!

  • @eyrar99  If you travel with the sim(s) that live there, does the building on the new lot show up?  What about their home lot if you go back?

It's also strange that the map view still shows the houses.  Try saving a house to your in-game library and see whether it works.  If so, you could just bulldoze the lots and replace the houses.

If you can't get the houses back, try recovering a backup save instead.

@puzzlezaddict Thanks for the reply! Since looking more at my game, I've also noticed that when I'm actually on a lot, all the lots around me appear as they would when I first got the game. The ones that are originally blank are blank, and the ones that have EA houses on them have EA houses (when I look at them from a different lot, when I actually go to the lot even the EA hosues disappear). Everything looks like it should on the map, though.

To answer your questions, when I travel with the sims, nothing on any lot I go to (the park, houses I've built, EA houses... anything) shows up. When I go back to the home lot, there's still nothing there.

When I attempt to save a lot, the gallery shows that nothing is there and that the lot is worth zero simoleons.

How would I recover a backup save?

    Thanks again for our help!

@eyrar99  Thanks for the info.  You can try to recover a backup through the game, or (and more reliably) manually, by renaming one of the backup save files.  Instructions for both are in the link I posted earlier.
