Sims 4: How much GB does the 9/17/19 and 9/5/19 update require?

Recently I have been inactive on the sims 4 due to school, but I have been wanting to get back on and play again. when I opened origin it told me that I had to update the sims 4. so I attempted to update, but it wouldn't allow me to because it said, "You are out of space on your designated hard drive. Please make some room before resuming your download." turns out yeah I had like 3 GB. so I cleared up some space and then had 15.2 GB. I tried to update but yet still it says I need more room. I was wondering how much space the new updates really need so I can make more space if needed.

  • Hi @BlondySims - The updates themselves shouldn't be throwing that error if you have 3 GBs available. Since it's been a while since you played TS4, is it possible that the game is trying to download expansion packs? If you purchased, but haven't yet installed, Island Living or any of the other expansion packs, those may need additional space to download and then install. But the patches themselves are fairly small.

Make sure you're clearing space on the correct drive; patches and dlc's get installed to the Program Files folders, not My Documents. The default installation path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4  Please check to be sure that you are clearing space from the drive that has The Sims 4 program folder on it.

If you are still getting this error, try going offline (in Origin, click the Origin menu > Go Offline) and then launch The Sims 4. Play a little bit to make sure the game is playing correctly (you don't have to save game, just make sure it runs) Reply back with any error messages or problems you may have, and attach a DxDiag.
