Sims 4 intermittent lag

Hello there, I've been getting what I think is the same or similar issues, regarding the lagging and stuttering during game play.  I've gone through this thread over the past couple days trying the various suggestions in here.  I've started a completely fresh save, without the mods folder (put it on the desktop) the only custom stuff is some clothes.  Tried playing in offline mode, have tried lowering the games graphics, done repairs, and shut down all my extra programs that I'd normally having running when I was playing.  Double checked graphic card drivers, found it needed an update, went through that.

I notice sometimes the spikes seem to hit most frequently when there is a notification in game, about either an event starting, or a sim calling to ask something.  Have tried small lots and large lots, homes with just base game stuff (Willow Creak starter homes).

This started within I think 4-5 days ago, maybe less, defiantly within the time between event updates.  The game isn't completely unplayable, just gets stuck every few mins, and hangs up, then speeds up to catch up with whatever the sims were doing when it hung for a little bit.  The stops only last a minute at most, often less than a min, say around 20-30 seconds is the average.

I didn't try a fresh install yet, but have run two repairs so far.

I've attached my dxdiag below, I couldn't see anything in it myself, but I'm most likely missing something.

thank you for your time in helping me sort out what is going on.

  • RavenDreams  I can't download your dxdiag, which is an occasional bug with the site.  So please try attaching it again, to a reply rather than to your original post.

I split your post because the other thread is becoming somewhat unwieldy for me to troubleshoot in.  I'll link it here for reference though:

Did you try a clean boot?  It's more thorough than simply closing any other running apps, as it also disables various services that could still be running when the apps they belong to are not.

Here is the DxDiag again, hopefully it works this time.

As for clean boots, ya went though a couple.  I did a full uninstall/reinstall/reboot/got error of missing package file for Ep04/repair/reboot/no cc no mods/nothing but clean install of all base game stuff with anything I bought, fresh save fresh sims that I knew that I had that were clean from back in cottage living/ran reasonably tell the welcome wagon showed up then started to stutter and slow down catch up/ tried laptop mode and medium graphic settings.

I know its something localized with my system, partners doesn't have the issue.  Fully clean programs running other than antivirus (which they have the same version of) No browsers, no other programs other than the EA launcher.

I'm kind of confused to what I might of missed.  The game isn't fully unplayable, just annoying, seems to happen the longer I've been playing too, as it they become a bit more frequent and stutter more, but its not unplayable, just annoying.

  • RavenDreams  This dxdiag is readable, not sure what happened to the first one.  I have a few suggestions you can try in any order, although I'll list them in the order I'd use if it were my system.

Try uninstalling Razer's Game Manager Service, and if that doesn't help, any other Razer apps you have.

    Try playing in windowed mode.

Unplug your Sony TV, with the computer turned off, and try playing with only the second monitor.

Try setting your user DPI scaling to 96 (100%) rather than its current 144 (150%).  Here's how:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/change-display-dpi-scaling-level-in-windows-11.934/

Test with your antivirus completely disabled.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe.

If one of these works but you don't like the results, let me know anyway and we can try to work around the problem.

I think it was the Razor app.  I noticed that when i went to remove it, there was an update due, I chose to not bother with and just remove the whole thing.  I don't really remember using it, and the new Razor mouse was the most recent change to the system a couple months back.

I think that might have been the culprit.

Tried in my test save, and it was ok, traveled to a few worlds to some of the bars, since I know they can fill up with sims rather quickly.  Even gave it a test with a completely new test save and did the same with going to some bars to see if it stuttered.  All fine with those two.  Loaded my main, and made a backup save for it just in case.  The house was fine, and took the teens to the high school which was one of the worst areas for slow downs/lags.  And it seems to run fine for now, if things get strange again, i'll come back to this thread, and go down the list checking off other things.

Thanks for the advice its much apricated.
