  •  Hola fellow frustrated sims lovers, I suggest you all scroll back up through this thread, you will find even some very tech savvy dads had this issue and its Not an Easy Fix.

We all came to the conclusion that on windows, It  would appear to be a PERMISSION issue, between windows and Origin.

some running on Mac's have had the same issue but they often find a fix.

Even We, tech savvy from the Jurassic era, who run windows 7, did not find an easy solution.

I have done everything You are being advised to do and more,  and I spent weeks on it in my spare time,

DONT; Talk to EA support, they are all fresh out of PC kindergarten and have no idea.

    DONT reinstall the game,

    DONT restart your computer

    DONT reinstall origin

    DONT fiddle with your antivirus...

The answer is THE sign in on windows, most of us had to make a new account on windows, sign in on that, and then we could set origin up, set the game up, and then play.

I must say however, I am one of the few for whom this didn't work, and I believe its because I tried to take short cuts, in the end i gave up, put sims on an OLD spare pc and off she went.

This is the point to remember,

Origin needs to see that only the New account holder of windows is playing.

This should all take less than 1 Hour.....

Instructions:    uninstall ONLY Origin off your pc

close all your browsers /games/ etc

clean your PC with cc cleaner, dont run anything while you clean, patience peeps.

    Reboot

then sign in as a new account holder on WINDOWS (pick an easy password to remember and write it down)

    Download Origin and try again.

this method worked for 90 percent of players, Dont Take SHortCuts in the process....i mean dont, or your wasting your time.

good luck fellow chumps, and let me know how you go...

Hi  @EA_Lanna, can you tag the blurb i posted as one of the fixes on the thread, it will help others who need a work around the permissions issue.

    glad it worked,

lets hope the other 94 people with this issue get some success.

  • For me, it was the antivirus. I have Windows 10 and Windows Defender was blocking it from opening. Go to your protection history in Windows Security and you will see the blocking activity there if this is the problem for you. Go to "Actions" to give access to the program.

Hi folks, while the error message is the same, the issues you're experiencing here would not be caused by the same thing this thread was discussing years ago so the advice may not be applicable. I'll lock this thread here.

If you are on PC and experiencing a similar issue today please join a current PC thread discussing this (search bar is a great way to do this). If there isn't any, please feel free to create a new one for all to join and share advice. For Mac Catalina players, please join this thread: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/Info-The-Sims-4-macOS-Catalina-Troubleshooting/m-p/8291917#M20883

    Thanks.
