okay? nevermind? it's suddenly fixed, on my sixth consecutive day of troubleshooting???

for anyone wondering, i entered "-dx9" on steam launch options, and then it miraculously made it past the intro. i don't know why that worked! but it did! thank god. now i am going to troubleshoot the mods folder for five more hours
