Sims 4 keeps making whole new game file(s) in C: Drive?

Whats Happening:
First off I start with ALL EA/Sims files are scrubbed from my C:Drive
I redownload the EA app to my D: Drive

Set my download location to my D: Drive

Reinstall sims 4 to my D: Drive (No mods, 1 test Save, just base)

While launching, it somehow makes a whole new folder/files/the whole game on my C:Drive and loads THAT one (from the C:Drive, not the D: Drive Sims 4 with the test save)

  • PC: Lots of space on the D: Drive, no errors there, high end gaming PC, no issues there.
  • How common? 100% of the time.
  • Troubleshooting: Even if I uninstall the C: Drive files and launch as admin direct from the D: Drive, it does it.
I've hard restart multiple times, uninstalled and reinstalled, double checked everything, made new folders on my D: Drive AND my SSD, still does it.

Has anyone run into this issue before? I never saw other people having this issue

I have not played in months also, keeping my game off auto-update ( at least since Sept 2023 according to my last save)

  • @LadyPandyy  Sims 4 will always look for the user folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, and if one doesn't exist there, it'll create a new one.  This is independent of the game's install location.  So what you're seeing is perfectly normal.

If you'd like your user folder on D, here's how to make that happen:

You can direct the folder to pretty much wherever you want, but it should NOT be combined with the game's program files.  You should have two separate Sims 4 folders, one for the program files and one for the user data, in distinct locations.
