Sims 4 keeps randomly crashing

Hey,

I was installing some mods after a long time and the game kept crashing so i thought ok i will remove every mod and start doing the 50/50 thing.

Then I noticed the game crashed without any mods... well then I decided to delete the game and also the folder under Documents.

Made a new fresh install trough the EA App and I made a new save with a new Sim, started the game and after about 2-5 minutes game keeps crashing again... ☹️

I rollbacked my NVIDIA Driver to test it, no luck

Forced DX9 on this driver, also no luck

Installed the most recent driver again with DX11, no luck

Forced DX9, crashed also.

Im really frustrated because I have such a high power PC and every game runs smooth except sims.

It doesnt matter what im doing it crashes at some point at home or in a bar and im not doing specific things.

Attached you can find the DxDiag File.

I have also the lastCrash file but i know nobody here can read it beccause its for employees specially cripted or something.

I hope someone can help me ☹️

Thank youu

  • @SiRDrop  Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows a particular type of Sims 4 crash, involving python37_x64.dll, that is often the result of a CPU overclock on a newer, high-end Intel system.  The processor can be overclocked by the motherboard by default to the point where it's not stable.  This is a flaw in the platform.

The good news is, BIOS updates have been rolling out to address the issue.  Your dxdiag doesn't list your board, just the BIOS version (1663), so I don't know whether there's a newer version available, but there probably is given the number.  Google your board's exact model number and look for an Asus support page, where you can find the newest BIOS and other software.  If you find a newer BIOS, install it and test Sims 4 again.

If this doesn't help, or there is no new update available, boot into BIOS and disable CPU Turbo Boost.  It is likely buried in Advanced settings and may be called something slightly different, but Turbo will be in the name.

Separately, a component of iCUE is crashing, so you may want to update or disable it.  Please at least disable it while testing Sims 4 just in case it's causing its own issues.  It should not have any effect on the overclocking-related problem, but it could be triggering a separate type of crash that shows up as an iCUE issue rather than anything to do with Sims 4.

    YOU ARE MY HERO!!!

There was a BIOS Update in Oktober, i made that didnt bring me the solution BUT going into BIOS to desable the Turbo Mode for the CPU helped me out :D

Well I guess this is with this INTEL Problem that is hapenning for some months... well now my game works thanks to you 🙂

  • @SiRDrop  This is definitely an Intel/overall platform problem, and it should still be fixed in a BIOS update at some point.  So keep an eye out for new updates related to stability on the platform.  In the interim though, leaving CPU Turbo Boost disabled is a viable workaround, and I'm glad it worked for you.
