8 years agoSims 4 Lag?
So i've posted about sims 4 lag in the past but the issue has still not been resolved. To cut a long story short, all of my windows files and games (including sims) are on my C drive which is current...
I would upgrade your amount of RAM simply to "Future proof" your computer. Remember that each EP/SP/GP adds more features to the Base Game that requires more processing power and RAM helps accommodate that. You didn't mention if you had a lot of CC/Mods which also can affect your game performance.
Have you tried moving your mods/CC out of your game and seeing if that solves your lag problems?
Try this.
1) Move your Sims 4 folder to your Desktop. (Documents > Electronic Arts> Sims 4). DO NOT DELETE IT! This is where your saved games are.
2) Start up Sims 4 to allow a new folder to generate. Remember your saved games are on your Desktop and will not show up at this time.
3) Start a new game and play for about an hour to see if the game is still laggy.
Sometimes the game develops glitches and "resetting" the Sims 4 helps to solve them.
I haven’t tried moving my sims 4 file so will do that now! Do you know how I would go about adding more RAM onto my laptop? I’ve heard you can add RAM via a USB stick, but just wondering if this is the most effective way to do this? I’m not clever enough to take my laptop apart to add RAM slots in lol.
It is not possible to add RAM through a USB stick it can only contain files.
Look in your Laptop manual if it is possible to add RAM. If so how and what type it must be.
@JessWaltxo 8 GB of RAM should be enough. You don't need more. Think that statement was for @ReiyneBow who only has 4 GB.
I've tried moving my saves to desktop but i still receive lag on a new file. I'v already tried playing the game without any CC. -- Last night i uninstalled it again and ran the game as is but i'm still getting some delay when clicking on other sims/appliances like the fridge, stove, etc. When i say delay i don't mean that the game is stuttering i mean that it takes an extra 5 seconds for the game to respond when i do certain actions. For build mode or simply walking around the game, its normal. I'v also tried turning down the in-game graphics but that doesn't solve anything.
I wasn't getting any of this lag before the June update, if that changes anything. So i don't really know where it's coming from all of a sudden. Not sure if it has anything to do with the 2 new packs i got either, considering they're not really new.
Kinda don't think its because of my 4 GB but i don't know since this is a new problem for me.
Your computer is below minimum requirements for the game. It is a wonder that you get it to run at all with just a little lag.
