Sims 4 Launch Problem (Resolution / Origin)

Hello,

Recently whenever I've opened The Sims 4 on my PC (it works fine on my laptop), the resolution is really bad and I can't click on any buttons. I don't recall ever touching the resolution settings. The animations on the main menu work just fine and when I press 'ESC' the options menu comes up so I know it's not frozen, but I can't press on anything. I also couldn't see the main menu at all (as in, the whole Sims 4 window was invisible except for the minimize, restore down, and close options) until I closed Origin because I saw that it was using 100% of my CPU. Can anyone help me? Is my PC just really * or is there a way for me to fix this issue? Thanks! ❤️

  • @DawnOfAquarius11  Try disabling Origin in-game: hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Origin in-game header, and disable the option at the top.

If that doesn't help, go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and remove options.ini.  This will restore all settings, including the resolution, to their defaults.  You'll then need to redo all your in-game settings.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

For Origin itself, it's currently using excess CPU for a number of people right now, for no apparent reason.  The only fix I know of is to put Origin in offline mode before launching the game.
