Sims 4 not launching

@Beautbooks  Thanks for providing the dxdiag, which lists a few different errors that may or may not be related to Sims 4.  First, please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Next, please use Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) to clean-uninstall the EA App.  Restart your computer and reinstall the App.

If this doesn't help, please try launching the game in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

If that doesn't help either, try disabling your built-in webcam.  Hit Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, and under Cameras (not sure exactly what the category is, but it should say "camera" somewhere), right-click the webcam and disable it.  If this helps, you can try updating its driver, which is a button at the top of the window, but please do try playing with the webcam disabled entirely.

I am going to restart my computer now and follow through with your other suggestions. 

Hi again, I have tried all you suggested but still no game opening. I did discover that Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 has nothing in it - nothing at all. Do you have a copy of the files that should be in there? I am not sure at what stage all the files in Electronic Arts got deleted but they are not there, it's an empty file folder ... which may explain why it is not working???

Here are some images of the folders I do have relating to Sims 4 - apparently. 

@Beautbooks  The folder in your screenshots contains the game's program files, as in, what the EA App installs.  The Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts contains user data: saves, mods, saved builds, etc.  If that folder isn't present, either it's been deleted or you're looking in the wrong place.  Since you did play Sims 4 at some point, the folder had to have existed then if not now.

Is OneDrive running on this computer?  If so, your data may have been uploaded to cloud storage and removed from your computer itself, although that would be odd considering how much free storage your C drive has.  It's also possible you're looking in the wrong Documents folder, as in, not the one the game has been reading.  Sims 4 uses whatever Windows has designated as the Documents directory, if it can, so the next question is where exactly that is.  To find out, search in Windows for command prompt, open it, and enter this command:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

Whatever location is listed, look for an Electronic Arts folder there with a Sims 4 folder inside.  Whether you find one or not, please list that location.  You can write [username] instead of the actual username if you want, but please leave the rest of it intact.

Thanks again. I tried the search, and nothing could be found. So, I went looking in my cloud drive and found some older Sims files. The game still doesn't open - it still leaves me with the windows background while EA runs some files in the background (see attached). What are your thoughts? Is this fixable, hopefully. 

@Beautbooks  This is almost certainly fixable, but please let me know whether you want OneDrive running at all on this computer.  Please also post the result of the Command Prompt command I posted previously.

The command prompt result:

"The system cannot find the path specified."

I am happy to not have one drive on this computer, I essentially use it for SIMS gaming and the occasional Microsoft Office document. If that changes in the future I am sure I can find other ways to save and backup the information.  

@Beautbooks  Are you sure you're entering the command correctly?  A few other players have accidentally removed part of it.  This is the full command:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

There has to be some value there, unless your Windows install is completely broken; I don't know of any case where Windows allowed itself to not have any location for the Documents directory at all.

That is a very good question, attached is what I have tried and hopefully you will see what I am doing wrong? Or have an idea of what I am missing. This is all very strange indeed.
