Sims 4 not launching

SIMS 4 launch from STEAM not working. When I try to launch the game from the STEAM app. This has been a problem for a month and I would like to play the game -so its time to fix the problem.

These are the things that I have tried so far.

- Uninstalling EA App

- Updating EA app

- repairing EA app

- uninstalling and reinstalling the game

- verifying the game files through STEAM

- Clearing Cache in EA app

- rebooting the computer repeatedly

What am I missing?

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I unlinked Sims4 from family sharing in Steam.  That didn't solve the problem.

I tried the clean user folder idea as well and the same problem occurred again.

Here is a dxdiag.  Thanks for your help.

  • 08054d2340290d6e  Your dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 4 errors, or any other obvious issues that could prevent Sims 4 from working.  That suggests that the game is being blocked rather than crashing, which in turn suggests a permissions issue.

What antivirus do you use, and does it help to (temporarily) disable the AV?  You'd want to repair the game afterwards: for a Steam install, select Sims 4 > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of the game files.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe, and if this helps, you can reenable the AV and set exceptions for TS4_x64 and TS4_Launcher_x64, plus EADesktop.exe while you're at it.

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to (try to) launch the game without reinstalling anything.
