Sims 4 NVIDIA stuttering

i recently reinstalled my sims 4 on my laptop, and ever since it was lagging and stuttering so bad on launch. i cannot do ANYTHING.

so at first it said my videocard was not recognised. i edited all the graphicscard files, added my card there, config file shows its found and recognised, but i do not think it is, or at least something else is the culprit, bc its still lagging like crazy.

before i reinstalled everything had worked perfectly.

my card is nvidia geforce rtx 4070 laptop gpu.

drivers, windows, all updated to its last version. what else can i do? 🥲

  • Korra4444  Sorry for the late reply.  If you still need help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

Please play with freshly-made sims on a default EA-made lot, nothing from the Gallery.

If the game still doesn't run the way you want it to, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
