sims 4 saying i don't have packs i previously own

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? PC: 1.93.146.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansions, all game packs except star wars, all stuff packs.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? install sims 4 on a new computer and download. play sims then per-existing packs say i don't own them.
What happens when the bug occurs? cant play with per-existing packs
What do you expect to see? idk what to say here game is saying packs are not owned
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

So i had to get a new computer because my old one died on me, I downloaded the sims 4 from origin and down loaded all my packs. i bought the new high school, wedding, and werewolf packs, downloaded those fired up the game, started a new game started to make a sim and went to find a pack to find an item from it and the game states that i don't own the pack. i close out to try and see if the game needed updated said all up to date. i try to play again, same thing happened. idk what to do.

  • @puzzlezaddict I Tried this, but my game is so laggy that when I right-clicked the sims 4 icon nothing happened so I dunno if it's my computer or the game itself but I've been trying for hours...

@CrystalOrchid44  You can't repair when Sims 4 is running.  Please quit the game and restart your computer, then try to repair without launching the game.

If you're not seeing your owned packs in-game, and the EA App still thinks you own them, please see this thread:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-DLC-shows-as-installed-won-t-load-in-game/td-p/12416260

If the App thinks you do NOT own the packs you've purchased, let me know.

  • I am getting this problem as well. After downloading the EA app onto my pc and signing into my account then downloading the Sims 4, when I play a saved game I get the message telling me that content had been removed as I didn't "own the pack that the content belong to", which is weird as I have all packs but Growing Together and only two kits. So, I have to repair the game each time I want to play it.

I think it might be the EA app messing up the game. I hope this gets fixed as having to repair a game every time it says "I don't have something" is going to become very annoying.

@happykitkat  Just to be clear, repairing alone fixes this issue?  Does the EA App actually download your missing packs again, or does it simply verify their presence?  It might be difficult to tell if you have a fast connection, so please watch closely for at least a minute or two.

Please also let me know what antivirus you use.

It does a temporary fix, as sometimes after doing the fix later on the game I will get the "content removed due to not having the pack". And no, the EA App has all of my owned games listed, so they are not missing.

And my anti-virus protection hasn't been a problem with playing the Sims 4 before.

@happykitkat  The EA App is more invasive than Origin and is getting frequent updates.  So it would be unsurprising if your antivirus started objecting to the game or the App after the fact.  It does sound like some data related to what packs you own is either being deleted or the App can't access it properly, which points to an antivirus or a cleaner app, so those are the first places to look, again even if you've never run into this issue before.

That's weird, my anti-virus would have given me a message/notice if it was objecting to it. I have done scans with my anti-virus but nothing wrong has been detected. I'll have to run my c-cleaner and see if that helps out. I'll see if uninstalling and then reinstalling the EA App will help out as well.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. ^U^

Hello, I've just encountered this today. I have repaired my game, but it got stuck on High School years, and Desert Deluxe Kit. I canceled those repairs and the rest of the pack/kits were just fine. Is there a way to help me with that? Thanks.
