Hi I bought an Asus Gaming PC for the exact fact that I play Sims 4 and LOVE mods and custom contents. I have A LOT of them, i UNDERSTAND that it can slow the game. I really do understand that, but it takes AT LEAST 40 minutes for The Sims to open. I do not think it's normal that it takes THAT long on a computer that's MEANT to be able to handle lots of downloads/mods/games. Do you have a solution for me? Once the game does open, a list of the installed CC shows up. Unclick the box so it wont show this at start up anymore. It should speed up the loading process tremendously.

@dbatcjm How long does the game take to load with no mods or custom content? Please move the entire Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and test. If the game loads quickly, then yes, the issue is your mods and cc, but not necessarily the volume alone: you might have an outdated or corrupt mod, or one meant for a different Sims game. The 50/50 method is the fastest way to sort through a large number of files in a short time:

If you still see slow loading times with no mods or cc present, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

I had this very problem. Putting the game into windowed mode solved it for me.
