I need some help

Hello! I need some help. My The Sims 4 keeps crashing to the desktop randomly without any error message. It happens during gameplay. I have already tried repairing the game and clearing the cache files, but the issue persists. Could anyone help me figure out how to fix this

Came here because of the same issue! I've updated my drivers and still experiencing game shutting down without warning and taking me to desktop.

Same for me, I cant play normally even after removing all mods, reinstalling and removing my newest addons (which I originally thought were the issue)

  • This keeps happening to me as well. It helped when I changed the household I played, but when I changed back at first it wasn't crashing but now it started again.

edit// it seems to happen always when I fast forward time.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I tried this, played sometime and it didn't crash. I can't experiment more now though, and I'll be away from my computer for a couple of days starting tomorrow.

I did as you suggested and so far it's the only thing that has worked. Thank you!

  • vengeance_026  Great to hear.  Do you need help restoring your saves and Tray files?  You can simply move them to the new folder if you want, but let me know if the game stops working again or your content doesn't load properly.

    Thank you!
It seems to be working now. I have been playing almost 2 hours with no crash, but how do I get my old saves back now? Just import them into the new folder?
I also got two mods that figured the crashed in my old save were possibly related to the following:
    "interaction.py
    can_carry_infant
    animation_element.py
    get_carry_back_compatibility"
Now that I opened the folder it also seems like some of the animation bugs that accured before just disappeared, would it be good if I send my crash reports to the support so they could look over it and possibly find an error? (I have mods on in them tho)

  • LeLagus  Yes, you can move or copy your saves into the saves folder inside the new Sims 4 folder.  Make sure you're placing the files directly inside saves, not in a subfolder.

As for your crash reports, I don't think the developers would be interested if these crashes happen only with your mods installed.  If you get a crash log with no mods or custom content present, you can upload the log and your save (both are requested) and post the link in this thread:

    Crashing | EA Forums - 13467034

The thread is only covering crashes that happen with no mods and cc and that aren't attributable to some kind of system issue, which is one reason we don't stuff all crashing posts into that.
