Sims 4 University

I recently bought this game along with the season's expansion pack 2/26/2020. The seasons is running fine, however the university pack is not showing up in game play. Why? Please fix, recommend solution or refund me. I've already lost an entire account without any resolution.

  • @BHalls1  Are you running the Legacy Edition of Origin?  If so, that's the issue: Discover University doesn't run at all in the LE.  In this case, you can ask EA customer support for a refund.  Even though Sims 4 packs are generally not eligible for refunds, support has been granting them in most cases where people's computers cannot run the standard version of Sims 4.

If you're not sure whether you need the LE, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post (Windows):

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

or list the full specs of your Mac, including operating system, as described here:

If you're running the standard version of Sims 4 and University still isn't showing up, repair the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  Then make sure Origin is in online mode the next time you launch TS4.

Last Hero was very helpful, unfortunately live chat was not. I told Vikas the situation and was told nothing could be done given that the systems were automatic and couldn't be overriden. Bul%#@$. I've lost an ENTIRE account of games, well over $100 spent. Gone because there is no system for password retrieval. Nothing adequate anyone. The second time I spoke with someone about THAT issue, the form I was to fill out for further resolution timed out. How the hell does a form you are actively waiting on timed out?!!

@BHalls1  Support is perfectly capable of overriding the automatic rejection of a refund for a pack and has been doing so for months.  Maybe something has changed, since the Legacy Edition has been out for a while now.  But you could always try again—maybe a different support rep would be more helpful.

But to your other question, you might be able to switch back to the standard version of Sims 4.  Whether it's possible would depend on the specs of your computer.  Technically, it's enough to have a 64-bit version of Windows or a Mac and a version of macOS that supports Metal (so any Mac released in 2012 or later that is also running El Capitan or later).  But some people with Windows 7 or 8.1, or who have only 4 GB RAM, have been prompted to download the LE anyway.

On a Mac, Origin will launch the standard version if your system can run it.  If you have Windows, you can switch to the standard version within Origin.  Open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options, and choose 64-bit from the dropdown menu.  If you don't see it, right-click on the Sims 4 icon and select Repair, then look again.  The option won't appear if you have a 32-bit OS, but otherwise, in Windows at least, you should be able to force Origin to launch the standard version.

Last Hero, what I ended up doing was switching from the 32 to 64-bit. I lost the family I was playing with, but the University pack and all of the other packs were running in gameplay. I want to thank you again, you've been more help than technical support and live chat ever was to me. Thank you!!!

@BHalls1  Just in case you want the old family back, you can transfer the save file to the folder the game is now using.  When you run the standard version of the game, saves are located here:

    Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves

When using the LE, the path is the same, except the Sims 4 folder is called "The Sims 4 Legacy Edition."  If you copy the save from the LE folder to the regular saves folder, the game will load it.  Be sure to renumber the saves before you move them over, so you don't have any duplicates.  The saves will be labeled Slot_0000000x.save, with x being a different number for each new save you've created.  But the exact number doesn't matter; just make it different than the files you already have in the saves folder.
