Sims 4 Update Fail

Hey, please try restarting your Origin as an administrator and try again.

This did not work. Can some one please help me, I only got it yesterday and it is really frustrating that it is already stuffing up.

Yh, This is utterly unacceptable, You realise an overpriced game with reduced features and then have to fail to update one day later. This is pathetic, I want a fix, now!

EA, уour advice - it's just formal reply. Of course, all this has already been done. I gave a lot of money and now I admire failed to start the game. Is that correct? Why do I need this game and such a service? Correct the error and let the people get what they paid for.

 I restarting  Origin, I restarting PC, I restarting LAN.  What else needs to be done to stop fail Origin+Sims4? To reinstall Windows?

Just please help me fix this issue im having. It is unacceptable to make people pay nearly $100 for a game that doesnt work. PLEASE COME BACK ASAP.😕mileymad:

It's been almost 24 hours and they still haven't gotten back, and I'm seeing this issue all over the internet. Has ANYONE found anything to fix it??

So, I was having this problem too and found like 800 threads on this, all with absolutely no answers.  I was able to fix it on mine.

When I had the issue occur, I tried booting the game using The Sims 4 icon without Origin open, which I believe is what gave me this problem.  I say this because after finding no answers to this problem, I was going to give up and try uninstalling/reinstalling, and it told me that "thesims4.exe must be closed" before I could continue uninstallation, but I was never able to actually run that due to the lack of update, so it seemed pretty fishy.

I couldn't find the process in my process tree, so I just went ahead and did a full log off of my PC's Username.  Logged back on, went in to Program Files (x86) > Origin and ran Origin as Admin.  As soon as it opened, it told me there was an update for The Sims 4, which was slightly different than the first time (I had to select Play on the first times when it was giving me the 'Update Failed' message).  I started the update, and it went through with no issues.

So long story short, I think that Origin was registering The Sims 4 as being open, preventing the Update from completing successfully, as logging off and back on (I actually did a full reboot, but I think logging off and on would do the same, but simply rebooting Origin itself did not work) fixed the issue.

-- I just encountered the same problem. I tried everything...restarting origin multiple times, starting the update over and over again. The only thing that worked for me was to turn origin offline. No update, but at least I can play.

Ok so I had this issue too, it would not download at all and kept saying update failed but I managed to fix it. I found the problem to be the Sims 4 was classed as open in my task manager so I forced closed it (just the sims 4, not origin) and tried updating again and it worked.

Open Windows Task Manager, (Ctrl+Shift+Esc)

Click on The Sims 4 and right click, then press End Process. 

I found there were more than one Sims 4 file open so make sure you close them all, if it does not work the first time try it again.

It loks like the issue is there's some kind of background version of sims running at the same time so origin can't apply the update. Go into task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) and into processes. You should see TS4 listed near the bottom of list (I actually had three instances of the program running). Just end alll three processes and try to finish the update. It worked for me no problem.
