Sims 4 wont find its save file anymore and keeps creating a new one?

My Sims 4 game is on my D drive, i moved it probably over a year ago and it worked when i last played it, probably last year sometime. I went to play it today but none of my saves showed up when I opened the game. When i looked in my saves folder on the D drive, there were some saves there so i wasn't sure why it didn't come up in the game, but have since noticed it created a new Electronic Arts folder in Documents folder on my ssd.  
How do I get it to locate the actual game file which has my saves? every time i delete the new folder and open the game, it just  creates a new EA folder in the documents folder.
