Sims 4 won't launch (EA APP)

So a few months ago, I came over to play some sims 4 and noticed the origin app was gone, and the EA app was in its place. Whatever, they function almost identically, and I bought the sims through steam anyways.

It has only caused me issues.

This has happened before, and I have no idea how I fixed it.

Today I sit down to play the sims and everything runs fine! Until I take a bathroom break to return to a completley blank screen, besides my taskbar and the tab at the very top. It was completely unresponsive and wouldnt resize/minimize. I had to use task manager to use my computer. This part isn't completely unusual, the sims just crashes sometimes.

After trying to reopen the app, I was greeted only with a prompt from EA, "Your game failed to launch. An error on our end caused your launch to fail. Try again a little later."

I restarted my computer, nothing. Removed my mods folder, nothing. Repaired the game in steam, nothing. Tried a clean save, nothing. Deleted reshade, you guessed it, nothing.

I then realized that my copy of Deluxe Edition was missing, and the version I was 'launching' from the EA app was the Standard Edition.

Any ideas on how to help? I just want to play my stupid life simulation game.

  • This worked BUT every time i restart my compiter it resets. I am constantly clearing my cache on the EA app and its an annoying extra step. Is there a way to permanently fix this?

@RunaYomozuki928  Please set the EA App to NOT start with Windows.  The option should be under Settings > Application.

When you're done using the App but don't plan on shutting down your computer, open the Task Manager and kill the EABackgroundProcess.  This shouldn't be open if you haven't launched the EA App since the last time you restarted your computer (as long as the App isn't starting with Windows), but it won't close when you quit the App itself.  Alternately, you can kill the process before opening the App again.
