Sims 4 Won't Launch

I saw someone else on here have a similar experience to mine except they seemed to fix theirs, mine doesn't ever seem to fix. I've been playing Sims4 for a while now and have had zero issues, it's always ran smoothly, with and without mods. A while ago, I had this issue come up. Basically I try to open Sims 4 via EA or Steam or whatever is easiest and it seems to run, shows it's starting, then stops and opens the EA app, closes itself, and then refreshes it. I figured it was my mods, one was outdated or I had too many, I deleted all of them and the same thing still happens. Sometimes the app works randomly, I notice it only opens once the Sims has updated and automatically turns off the ability to let mods function in the game. When you go in and turn this back on, it stops working again, whether I have mods added or not. Currently I have zero mods added to my Sims, I've checked all the folders, no mods, still isn't working. I went in and cleared the cache for Sims and the EA app but still nothing, I recovered my EA app, uninstalled, reinstalled, nothing is working. The other person on here with a similar issues resolved this by removing an outdated mod but I quite literally have no mods to remove anymore. Please help me out if you are able, this is extremely frustrating and saddening.

  • @564656465  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just load the game, enable mods and custom content (both settings), quit, and see whether you can reload.

If this works, download a fresh copy of one mod confirmed compatible with the current patch level (1.112) and see whether the game loads and the mod shows up.

If the game won't open with mods and cc enabled, please let me know which antivirus you use and which app (EA or Steam) you used to install the game this time around.

So it did work at first, but now I can't get my mods to work. I've made sure they are the correct file, in the correct spot, and all up to date and compatible with the current sims version. I also made sure that the Resource.cfg file was included in my Mods folder. The mods are in the correct spot but do not show up in game, the game is running fine, my cc mods and script mods are turned on and allowed but do not show up. Maybe I'm just doing something terribly wrong, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all my mods and trying different ones, that are all up-to-date.

@564656465  Please post a screenshot of the contents of the Mods folder, as in, I'd like to see the names and dates on some of these mods.

Please also confirm that the file path to one of your mods exactly matches what the game is reading, up to the Sims 4 folder.  Here's how to see the latter:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/

For the mods, right-click one file and select Properties > General, then look at the Location.  The reason this is imporant is that your computer has multiple Documents folders, and it's not always clear which one you're viewing unless you check Properties.

Here are all the mods, I've added most of everything today and or yesterday in an attempt to see if removing and then re-adding them will work, hasn't worked yet. Looking and right-clicking on mods to see location it always shows it's in "Sims 4 Mods folder"

@564656465  I need the full file path under Location, AND I need the full path to the folder Sims 4 is reading, according to the game itself.  By "full," I mean it should start with C:\Users.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm a tiny bit confused. I don't work with computer much and I'm not entirely sure where to find stuff. I looked at the website you produced and found what the website was talking about, location path thing just says "C:\Users\Pinkf\OneDrive\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Screenshots\" the other one is the same except instead of screenshots it says "Recorded Videos". I might be looking at the wrong thing, I apologize if I'm being a burden or difficult at all.

@564656465  That's one half of what I was asking.  The other half is that you find a mod that isn't working, right-click the file, select Properties, then General, and look at the Location.  Based on what you've said, it should be this:

    C:\Users\Pinkf\OneDrive\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods

If it's in a subfolder of Mods, move it directly into Mods.

If this doesn't help, rename the Mods folder and launch the game once to create a new folder.  (You don't need to go past the Main Menu.)  Move one of your mods from the renamed Mods folder to the new one and see whether it appears in-game.
