Sims 4 Won't Launch

    Hello, I totally forgot to close the case. It turns out my laptop is malfunctioning, and it has nothing to do with the game, as the game does indeed launch after like 30 minutes and then freeze, but this is due to my laptop and not the game. I have currently uninstalled sims and hoping to upgrade to a better laptop with a good graphics driver based on the sims recommendation.

Ok so I created the local account and tried launching it, but was unsuccessful, so I checked the folder and it was the same 4 files as previously noted (Config override, Saves, UserData.lock, and UserSetting), I left it for around 10 minutes and nothing. I then moved on to the next suggestion and nothing else but the same 4 files. I then did a couple reboots, turned the PC off for about 7 hours, then tried launching again, and still nothing after 30 minutes; it just gets stuck in background processors. I also noticed that after updating the drive, I'm unable to adjust my brightness, neither with the hotkey nor the slider (it's not even in settings). Could the issue be my PC? not sure how, as I didn't do anything different before the game stopped launching.

@ICELATTEEEE  The inability to adjust brightness could be due to the newer driver, but the problem is that Acer itself doesn't offer a driver newer than the one you originally had.  What options do you see under Settings > System > Display?  You might be able to adjust things there.

Your newer dxdiag is also missing the usual Windows errors.  These errors do exist since they were in your original dxdiag, but for some reason this one couldn't read them.  That could be a random glitch, but please run a couple of checks on your system files anyway:

  • Hit Windows key-X
  • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
  • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
  • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
  • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
  • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
  • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
  • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

    When I go under Settings > System > Display, it only shows 2 options on the brightness and colour settings, "Night Light" and "HDR" The usual brightness slider is nowhere to be found.

    So I did both test and copied the information but forgot to save it in the sticky note (should have used notedpad), After I did the last step, the PC restarted and it got cleared. I tried my best to redo the steps but instead of errors or the corrupted file detected, I was getting "Successful."  I attached the file from the scans, the DISM was before the restart and the CBS is after, I'm unable to attach the CBS from before the restart as it is over the size limit. I hope it's ok.

      @ICELATTEEEE  The DISM log is never necessary unless DISM itself fails.  (The normal message is "the restore operation completed successfully" or similar.)  The sfc log is only necessary if sfc "found corrupt files and was unable to repair some of them."  If you did see that message, let me know; if you're not sure, you can run sfc again to find out, since those corrupt files would still be present.  Both logs are impossibly long as well, so I'd rather avoid going through them unless warranted.

      For the brightness, you can try going back to the Acer driver, but I'd like to know whether Sims 4 works now with the newer driver in place.

        After doing all of the steps, it still doesn't launch.
