Sims 4 won't launch

Having the same launch issue since a week it launched after i installed the base game update but then again stopped after two days. I installed it through steam. Here is my DxDiag file, hoping to find a solution soon.

  • whysoogrumpy  Please disable Avast, temporarily of course, and repair the game (again if you have already); the option is under Sims 4 > Manage.  Then try again to play.  If that helps, here's how to set exceptions in Avast:

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user data won't be available.  That can be addressed later if necessary, but for now, the important question is whether you can play in this account.

  • whysoogrumpy  I've split your post into its own thread because the other thread was getting a little unwieldy for me.  It's typically easier to troubleshoot with one person at a time, with some exceptions.

Anyway, do you have Steam family sharing or similar enabled?  If so, please disable it.

Did you try moving the Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts?  If not, please do so now.

Aside from that, what antivirus do you use?  Is OneDrive running on this computer?  Even if you never use it, OneDrive could be interfering with the game.

I ask all this because your dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 4 errors, which typically means the game is being blocked from starting rather than crashing.

  • Steam family sharing is not enabled. I did move the Sims 4 folder to desktop. OneDrive is uninstalled and I use Avast Free Antivirus on my computer. Tried launching the game after i uninstalled one drive but it didn't launch.

Thankyou sm for the help i added the exceptions and it did help me launch my game but i lost all my saves is there any way i can get them back?

  • whysoogrumpy  The saves are in the Sims 4 folder you moved to your desktop.  So move them back to the saves folder inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  The files need to be directly inside saves, not in a subfolder.

I'm having huge problems on steam, I've unistalled and re-installed a few times but after 30+gb the installation fail, some kind of an error writing on the disk :/
I had the same "launch" problem this morning

  • Taurus1116  Does this happen with your antivirus (temporarily) disabled?  If so, please list the location where the game is installed, and post a screenshot of the error you get when the installation fails.

Please also let me know whether you can install the base game alone, then your packs later.
