Sims 4 won't load at all

Hi

I have tried every fix I could find. I just uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it still does not load. It simply freezes with a white screen (Below)

I also received this error at one point.

I tried to run dxdiag and it says there are no issues. (below)

  • lurianaaa  Your dxdiag shows Sims 4 is crashing because of an issue with a component of DirectX 11.  This may not be corrupt (there are other causes of the issue), but you can repair any problem with DX11 by running a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

You can also simply switch to DirectX 9 mode, which doesn't solve the DX11 issue but sidesteps it instead.  If you can't load the game far enough to open the graphics options, where DX9 is a check box in the lower-right corner, you can force it in the EA App.  Open the App, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add -dx9 to the command line box.

Ndethya  I'd like a dxdiag from you then.  How to provide one is described above.

Nothing works for everyone, but something works for most people, so keep trying until you find the one that fixes the game on your laptop.

This worked for me,  but will it start crashing again if I move my saves back?

  • I'm glad to hear everything's working for the several of you that replied.

hahlooo  You can certainly try moving your saves back and playing them.  Let me know what happens, including when the game crashes.
