Sims 4 won't open

I'm trying to play the Sims 4 after not playing in a year. I've updated the game so everything should be fine but when I open it I just get an endless loading screen and never even get the initial menu. I've tried repairing the game, as well as taking the folder out of the documents to generate a new blank one and none of this worked. What am I supposed to try next?
