Sims 4 won't repair after dealing with game bug

So I've been trying to play a save file and after the recent update, it got this bug where I would save my game but all of my progress since the previous save was gone the next time I loaded the game. So I've been trying to repair my game since yesterday and all it does is say it's preparing, then it says "Download Failed" with every single game. I ended up sending Origin an error report. I've already cleared my Origin cache several times, about 4 times, just because my Origin wasn't fully loading before. I'm getting really frustrated and annoyed with this. Can anyone help me with this problem?

  • @EmmyTheStrange13  For the failed repair, try this:

I'm not sure that will fix the original problem though.  Do you happen to have OneDrive set to sync the contents of Documents with cloud storage?  If so, disable it.  If this isn't the issue, please go into Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and take a screenshot of the files inside.  Do the same with the saves folder.  I'd like to see the last modified dates on a number of files in there, in case the game isn't writing to that folder properly.

  • @puzzlezaddict Hi, thank you for responding! I followed the instructions in your link and so far, it seems to be repairing.

As for the folders, I took screenshots and I attached them below.

@EmmyTheStrange13  Okay, let me know whether the repair fixes the issue.  If it doesn't, try using "save as" to rename the save, and see if the newly named save retains its progress.

If that doesn't help either, try recreating your Sims 4 folder, and see whether you can save properly.  Move the entire TS4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts, launch the game to create a new folder, start a new save, look around a bit, save a couple of times, quit, reload, save a couple  more times, and see whether it works as intended.  If it does, you can move your existing saves, Tray files, and mods from your old folder to your new one.

By the way, please remove the last two screenshots you added—there are certain mods that can't be mentioned on this site (teen rating and all).  But I saw what I wondered about: the last modified date on the saves folder is from today, and the last time one of your saves was modified was last night at 10 pm.  Has the problem only been happening today, or did it happen yesterday as well?

Speaking of certain mods, hopefully you've updated yours.  If not, that's the first thing you should do.

  • @puzzlezaddict Hi, so I was playing a save file from Plumbella and usually with those, I start with that file but then use Save As so I can tweak it and then start over with it when I want to so I don't keep using that same file. I did this the other day because the "lost progress" became too frustrating. The problem itself started either yesterday or the day before (I can't remember now). I thought it was solved last night so I resumed playing my initial save file before I realized it hadn't solved itself.

So far, removing my S4 file seems to have worked. I'm going to slowly introduce my mods (which I believe I've updated most of, but I'm going to double check) and cc. Thank you for your help! I'll let you know if the issue comes up again.

Also, I deleted the screenshots you mentioned.
